Hi, My name is Maria Parlapiano.I live on a gorgeous horse farm in Bedminster, New Jersey.I am one of those lucky people who get to do what they love everyday.I am a Registered Nurse and an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant.I own a business for new mothers and babies called Postpartum Place.Being in business for over 18 years, I do my best to provide all the services, supplies and support necessary for my new moms to feel confident and comfortable with their new roles. This includes the most current nutritional information for themselves and issues surrounding returning to work. You see, my business is in a very affluent area with many of the new parents working in New York City's financial district. It always broke my heart that more than half of my new moms had to return to work, by three months, leaving their babies in day care all day,every day. But convincing women who are used to making huge salaries in finance and other fields can be a daunting task. This is my approach. First, I sell the product which is easy since sound nutrition is a large aspect of our teaching. Most of our new moms are breastfeeding and many think they are not allowed to eat chocolate because it may make their babies fussy,colicky and poor sleepers.Also they have an altered body image and feel they need to drop some weight. What do you think their expression is when I tell them, not only, can they eat Xocai chocolate without fear of colic or caffeine but that I recommend it for it's wonderful health benefits including weight loss!It's all smiles after that!Then, they taste it......more smiles!
Then I say, "How would you like to eat healthy chocolate everyday and make money staying home with your baby?""How would you like to be a part of a team of other moms doing the same thing?" Thus the birth of "Moms for Healthy Chocolate" Conceived from the basic prinicpal of keeping mothers & babies healthfully together!
